Watertown Christmas - Tree Lighting, Shopping, and WHS Troubadours

Saturday, December 4th, 2021


Town Square


  • Annual Watertown Christmas Parade at 3:00PM - Main Street
  • Watertown High School Troubadours performing historical characters around the square - two performances at 2:00PM and 4:00PM
  • Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony on the square next to the gazebo - 5:00PM with Hot Cocoa and Caroling.
  • Christmas Extravaganza at The Depot Junction Café featuring local vendors with lots of great Christmas décor, gifts, and more!


Stories, Locations, and Cast:

Josie:  Between 1866 - 1908, Daughter of Former Slave and W.E.B. DuBois' favorite student in Watertown. Location: Gazebo by Gabriela Gonzalez, 9th grade.

Minnie Jenelle Wood Bobo 1898 - 1983, Daughter of Tom Wood, one of Watertown's First Grocers. Location: Watertown Flower Shop by Katelyn Rodriguez, 9th grade.

Lowell Bogle 1897 - 1999, Historian / Local Author. Location: Wilson Bank & Trust / Depot Street by Landon Orrand, 9th grade.

Edsel C. Floyd 1930 - 2011, "Mr. Watertown." Location: Old LuLu's Building by Hunter Merritt, 10th grade.

Geraldine, Wife of G. Nelson Forrester 1929 - 2004, Civic Leader, instrumental in establishing Motlow State Community College. Location: The Adopted Farmhouse Coffee Co. by Ellie Richard, 9th grade.

Margaret Hawthorne 1873 - 1913. Daughter of Boarding House Owner, Dressmaker and Music Teacher, Daughter of First Cousin of Nathaniel Hawthorne. Location: Watertown Bed & Breakfast by Eliana Kohr, 9th grade.

Sam Sullins 1863 - 1933. Barber  Location: Barrett's Barber Shop by Cannon Cox, 9th grade & Conner Moody, 10th grade.

Nancy Turner Waters 1770 - 1827. Mother of Wilson Waters, for whom Watertown is named. Location: Atwood Welcome Center by Rachel Jones, 11th grade.
