Receive alerts from your local agencies - text 37184 to 888777 for mobile alerts!

You can also setup an account with Everbridge / Nixle: https://local.nixle.com/accounts/login/

If you find yourself in need of a warm place to stay in the next few days, let me know. We can open the church ( Watertown Church of God of Prophecy - 128 S Pearl Ave, Watertown, TN, United States, 37184) for you and your family, if you don’t have adequate heat. We don’t want anyone to be without a warm place to rest your head while these temperatures drop dangerously low!
Jake’s Blessing Box is a wonderful resource for those in need as well!

Wilson County

The Wilson County Warming Center will open Friday, January 23rd at 5:00 PM at the Wilson County Fairgrounds.
At this time, we do not have a set closing date or time. Hours will depend on temperatures and snowfall totals as this winter weather system develops. (WEMA - https://www.facebook.com/WilsonTNEMA )
⚠️ Please do NOT arrive at the fairgrounds prior to 5:00 PM on Friday, as staff and volunteers will still be setting up and preparing the shelter.

Location: Q Barn at the Fairgrounds - 914 Tennessee Blvd - there will be signs leading you to the shelter.

Volunteer network will be reaching out for volunteers - www.volunteernetworktn.org

As winter weather continues, the Emergency Warming Center will remain open through Monday, February 2, and additional volunteers are still needed.
If you’re able to serve, you can view and sign up for available opportunities here:

Transportation is available - call 615-489-9129

General Info

🚨 Heads up Wilson County – this is a long post, but it’s important. Please take a minute to read. 🚨

Over the next few days, conditions are going to get rough. Overnight tonight, travel will become increasingly difficult and in some areas, nearly impossible.
If you have to be on the road, please be prepared:
🧣 Pack blankets and extra clothing
🥪 Bring food and water
🔋 Charge your phone
⛽ Keep your gas tank full

If you slide off the road or get involved in an accident, it may take first responders longer than usual to reach you due to road conditions. Please know Wilson County EMA and our partners have plans in place and will respond, but expect extended response times while crews navigate snow and ice safely.
A few more safety reminders:
🔥 Check heaters for damage before using them
🔥 Keep heaters on flat, stable surfaces
🔥 Keep them at least 3 feet away from anything flammable
🐾 Bring your pets inside (yes, we know there are those that thrive in this but not ALL of them do.)
🧥 Wear layers. These temps will be dangerously cold.
If you don’t need to travel, this is your official permission to stay home, drink coffee, and binge your favorite show. The grocery store will still be there tomorrow.
Please also review yesterday’s post about our warming shelter. If you see someone who needs a warm place to stay, call 615-489-9129 (warming shelter line only).
🚑 All other emergencies should still call 911.
Let’s all take precautions now so we don’t have to meet under bad circumstances later. Stay safe, stay warm, and look out for each other, Wilson County. ❤️
